So, what is a podcast ? And why should you listen to a podcast?
Podcast is similar like a radio station except its an internet radio talk show that listeners can choose to subscribe to.
The format of a podcast is basically audio recordings of a conversation between the podcast host and a guest speaker or a single monologue of the podcast host sharing his or her thoughts.
One of the reasons why you should definitely listen to a podcast is because most podcasts are free!
And besides you get to multitask whilst learning something via listening to a podcast each day, which is really efficient.
You could be walking your dog and listening to a podcast.
You could be commuting to and from work and listening to a podcast.
You could be doing chores around the house and listening to a podcast.
If you are ready to check out a couple of podcasts but not sure where to start.
Here are my top 5 podcast recommendations under the Health & Wellness category,
The Cabral Concept Podcast
This is a daily podcast by a naturopath, ayurvedic & functional medicine doctor, Stephen Cabral who developed his passion for wellness after going through serious health complications when he was 17 years old.
He saw many doctors and tried many different treatment protocols but didn’t see any hope of recovery until he met an “alternative” health doctor.
The alternative health doctor explained to him, how he got there and how he could become well again, which subsequently led to his recovery process. This experience shaped him when he realized his life would be dedicated to helping others rebalance their bodies and renew their health.
Why Do I like this Podcast : Each day of the week has a different podcast theme to keep you motivated and moving forward to your goals. For example
Motivation & Mindset Mondays (MM), Total Wellness Tuesdays (TWT), Weight Loss Wednesdays (WW), Training Thursdays (TT), Friday Best of Review (FR)
He talks about a variety of health topics in each episode so it’s bite size information segments that are easily digestable and he has immense enthusiasm and passion for talking about health topics which shines through the way he delivers each podcast episode.
In addition to that he has “Cabral House Call” podcast sessions on Saturday & Sunday, where he answers questions that podcast listeners send to him.

Highest Self Podcast

She has been called “a leading voice for the millennial generation into the new paradigm shift” by Deepak Chopra, who wrote the foreword of her book.
Why Do I like this Podcast : Her podcast is about bridging ancient Ayurvedic healing and spiritual wisdom with modern western nutritional science and psychology. I feel she offers a realistic way of thinking how to live in a balanced way in a fast paced society whilst not being too dogmatic about Ayurveda principles.
The Minimalists Podcast
This is a weekly podcast by the duo , Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus who are best friends approaching age 30 that had achieved everything that was supposed to make them happy : six figure careers, luxury cars, oversized houses.
However, they were not satisfied with their current life and took back control of their lives using the principles of minimalism.
They started their website The Minimalists.com in 2010 to share the ways they implemented minimalism in their daily life and their website has an audience of more than 20 million people.
Why Do I like this Podcast : I like the friendly banter and humour between Joshua & Ryan as they tackle minimalism in different topics such as food, religion, hobbies, emotions, social media.
And after tackling conversations over those topics, there is a lightning round session where they answer preselected questions from their followers from social media and there is a section where this showcases suggestions by podcast listeners that share their tips and tricks with minimalism.
Their podcast also has recordings of their speaking tours in different cities and different guests that they bring on in their speaking tours.
Mark Manson Audio Articles
Mark Manson is an author and wrote The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life , a big bestseller on New York Times which basically talks about what we choose to find important in life and why it matters.
He’s a straight talker that tackles topics such as How to Grow the F Up, F your feelings,Why you suck at Self Awareness, The Real Value of Money, and Happiness is not enough.
Yeah, a ton of F bombs dropped in his podcast episodes which are him reading the articles that he written yet he tackles self development topics in a raw and real way
Why Do I like this Podcast : Although this podcast doesn’t release podcast episodes very regularly but podcast episode archives are a treasure trove and I would encourage you to go through them as they aren’t your typical cotton candy personal development articles but provoke insight into your thoughts about the articles that he writes.
