5 years ago, I started photographing graffiti in Kuala Lumpur.
How did it all start? A date promised to take me to a graffiti spot in KL.We ended up checking out the graffiti spot in Central Market aka Pasar Seni river bank wall.
Side note: Not a big fan of the blue nail polish I was wearing ! What was I thinking??
Well the experience was pretty exhilarating and I was hooked despite we constantly had to be on the lookout for vagrants that hung around the Central Market riverbank walls.
After that experience, I hit Google and a quick search churned out a list of graffiti spots. I made a list and started visiting those spots, photographing the graffiti work, researching on graffiti artists and crews.
I’m on a mission to find my own photography crew as I need a few people to visit and photograph the graffiti spots together especially at smelly alleys and riverbank walls.
So, I have decided to share what I know about graffiti locations with directions on How to Get There.
Check out my graffiti video
Location #1: Kompleks Rakan Muda Bukit Kiara , Jalan Bukit Kiara 1, 60000 Kuala Lumpur
This location is pretty much one of the most secure locations to shoot graffiti since its in a skating park and have protection against the elements. There are events held here from time to time , so the graffiti artwork does get painted over with new content .
Location #2: Bangsar Village (New)
Next to Baskin Robbins, No 55, Grd Floor, Jalan Telawi 3 , Off Jalan Maarof, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur.
